Indonesia is a country that is often oscillated by
repeated large-scale political changes. Democracy in this
beloved country has also experienced significant ups and downs.
Not unlike the general trend in many countries, political changes
and the ups and downs in the quality of democracy in this country
also had implications for (and therefore can be observed its
manifestations in) in the administration of elections, the main
complaints about the quality of democracy during the New Order
government, among others, were addressed in the holding of
intimidating and fraudulent elections. On the other hand, pride
in the reform era has always been attributed to our nation's
ability to hold free, honest and fair multi-party elections since
1999. Even so, elections in Indonesia are not always easily
understood by the public and voters. The ever-changing
regulations have greatly contributed to the confusion over our
electoral systems and procedures. Meanwhile, complete
information about elections in Indonesia is not always easy to
find. Election contestants can be individuals or political parties,
but most importantly political parties. Political parties submit
candidates in elections to be elected by the people.
