As a consequence of the Unitary State of the Republic
of Indonesia which upholds the democratic process, General
Elections (Pemilu) are needed to elect people's representatives
both in the legislative body and elect the president as head of the
executive body. Apart from the aim of electing people's
representatives in institutions in the legislative and executive
institutions, it is hoped that this election will be carried out
honestly and fairly as mandated by Law Number 7 of 2017
concerning Elections. In the implementation of elections which
are held periodically, electoral criminal acts often occur which
actually hinder the democratic process itself. This is partly due
to the public's lack of understanding of the criminal acts involved
in the implementation of elections. The Community Service Team
at the Faculty of Law, Bhayangkara University, Jakarta Raya
took the initiative to provide legal education to the community in
Mekarsari Village, Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
Based on the phenomenon mentioned above, this activity aims to
enable the public to understand election criminal acts, as well as
understand the criminal law implications of election criminal
behavior. The method of implementing this activity is carried out
in several stages, starting from the preparation stage,
implementation stage, activity evaluation, to reporting results.
The results of the activity show that the public's knowledge of
election crimes has increased. The output resulting from this
activity is a pocket book as an additional reference regarding
election crimes. In addition, the results of activities are
documented in the form of implementation reports and published
in scientific journals so that they can provide the widest possible
benefits at an academic and practical level.
