Hinterland people live in Batam city mostly dependant on the sea. Most of them work as fishermen and some others work by cultivating fish. Teluk Mata Ikan in Nongsa subdistrict is one of the fishing islands in Batam City. Its location is directly adjacent to Singapore which makes this island one of the border points of Batam City with water potential. It is known that fishermen in Teluk Mata Ikan frequently have accidents during work in the sea. Many potential risks could occur such as boat leaks, getting injured when pulling nets, overloading, and drowning. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out occupational safety and health training to provide the understanding and encourage awareness of the fishermen in Teluk Mata Ikan. To order the fishermen can pay more attention to their safety. Apart from providing training, this activity is also coupled with the provision of a safety jacket to minimize the risk of drowning if fishermen are forced to fall into the sea.
