Abstract

The police, a civil public institution, regulate order and law, with a historically militaristic aspect in Indonesia. Serving as investigators, their role has evolved to foster public security, reducing crime rates within jurisdictions. Police assist communities by addressing security issues, providing emergency aid, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The police’s effectiveness is enhanced through community policing, fostering collaboration and trust, crucial for conflict resolution. The National Police faces challenges due to limited resources, necessitating community involvement for stability. Cultural awareness training and multicultural interaction further equip officers to handle diverse societal needs. Despite these efforts, maintaining public order and adherence to legal frameworks remains complex. Regional autonomy grants local governments more regulatory power, highlighting the police’s role in managing community conflicts and societal order.
