Abstract

The escalation of geopolitical tensions between Iran and the United States consistently has transnational implications that impact domestic security stability in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the role and strategy of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) within the framework of a responsive-defensive legal-political configuration during the global ceasefire. Using qualitative methods with a literature study approach and policy analysis, this study finds that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) plays a crucial dual role. In the responsive dimension, the Indonesian National Police prioritizes humanist policing through mass action management and cross-society dialogue to reduce ideological polarization. Meanwhile, in the defensive dimension, the Indonesian National Police strengthens security at national vital objects and cyber patrols to mitigate the threat of proxy war and disinformation that could disrupt public order. Furthermore, this study highlights the importance of operational accountability during the security alert period to prevent corruption gaps in emergency budget management. The study concludes that synchronizing an independent and active foreign policy with an adaptive public order and security strategy is key to national resilience amid geopolitical uncertainty.
