Focus and Scope
FOCUS AND SCOPE
Here is the revised Focus and Scope in academic English, incorporating Law (Criminal and International) and the additional strategic dimensions.
FOCUS AND SCOPE
Jurnal Keamanan Nasional is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse on national security and its complex intersections with the dynamics of the international strategic environment. The journal serves as a premier platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to disseminate critical, original, and evidence-based insights that deepen the understanding of contemporary security paradigms and offer innovative solutions to emerging global threats.
The journal invites contributions encompassing theoretical, analytical, empirical, historical, and case-study-based research, with a particular emphasis on issues of national, regional, and international significance. We encourage interdisciplinary manuscripts that critically address the multidimensional nature of security, including but not limited to:
-
Security Law and International Jurisprudence: Critical analysis of criminal law in national defense, International Humanitarian Law (IHL), sovereignty disputes, and the legal frameworks governing international security cooperation.
-
Maritime Security and Territorial Integrity: Challenges in maritime domain awareness, protection of Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs), blue economy security, and enforcement within Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs).
-
Defense Economics and Strategic Industries: Research on defense budgeting, the sustainability of domestic arms industries, and the role of economic resilience in national sovereignty.
-
Intelligence Studies and Information Warfare: The role of strategic intelligence in decision-making, counter-intelligence, and the impact of disinformation and psychological operations on national stability.
-
Environmental and Climate Security: The study of climate change as a threat multiplier, resource scarcity (food and water security), and the security implications of natural disasters.
-
Cybersecurity and Technological Threats: Security of critical information infrastructure, the ethics of AI in warfare, and the governance of emerging dual-use technologies.
-
Geopolitics, Geoeconomics, and Regional Architectures: Power shifts in the strategic landscape, regional security frameworks (e.g., ASEAN, AUKUS, Quad), and the influence of global economic competition on state security.
-
Health Security and Biosecurity: National preparedness for pandemics, bio-terrorism, and the protection of public health as a core component of state stability.
-
Terrorism, Insurgency, and Violent Extremism.
-
Military Affairs, Policing, and Security Sector Governance: Examining civil-military relations, security sector reform (SSR), and institutional accountability.
-
Conflict Resolution, Peacebuilding, and Human Security.
-
Urban Violence, Communal Conflicts, and Domestic Politics.
- Security & Risk Management
Jurnal Keamanan Nasional particularly values manuscripts that explore the nexus between domestic security policies and global strategic shifts, assess the efficacy of regional security institutions, and propose evidence-based policy responses to non-traditional security challenges.
By fostering rigorous scholarship and informed debate, the journal aims to contribute to the formulation of sound security policies and to strengthen the academic and practical foundations of national security in a rapidly evolving global context.
