Abstract

This study examines the impact of perceived benefit, perceived ease of use, and perceived risk on university students’ decisions to use QRIS, with interest in using as a mediating variable. Although students generally possess high digital literacy, the adoption rate of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) remains relatively low, motivating this research. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, with data collected through an online questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale from 80 university students. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. The measurement model demonstrated strong validity and reliability, with factor loadings above 0.70, Average Variance Extracted (AVE) exceeding 0.50, and Composite Reliability (CR) above 0.80. Structural model results revealed that interest in using was positively influenced by perceived benefit (β = 0.311, p < 0.01) and perceived ease of use (β = 0.819, p < 0.01), while perceived risk had a negative effect (β = –0.155, p < 0.05). Furthermore, QRIS usage decision was significantly influenced by perceived benefit (β = 0.906, p < 0.001) and interest in using (β = 0.196, p < 0.01), whereas perceived risk and perceived ease of use showed no direct effect. These findings highlight interest in using as a key mediator linking perceptions to actual behavior, supporting the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). This study contributes to digital payment research by emphasizing perceived advantage and user engagement as central drivers of QRIS adoption among students.
