Manuscript Type

Jurnal Jaring SainTek (JJST) accepts the following categories of scholarly submissions within its scope, covering industrial technology, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, environmental engineering, informatics, and related interdisciplinary fields.

All submissions must be original, scientifically sound, relevant to the journal's scope, and prepared in accordance with the journal's author guidelines and publication ethics policies.

1. Original Research Articles

Recommended length: 4,000–8,000 words.

Original Research Articles present novel empirical, experimental, computational, analytical, or theoretical findings that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the relevant field.

These articles must report original research that has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Submissions should clearly present the research objectives, relevant literature, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions. The methods must be described sufficiently to allow readers to understand how the research was conducted and to assess the validity of the findings.

Original Research Articles may address topics such as industrial technology, manufacturing systems, chemical processes, petroleum engineering, environmental analysis, information systems, computer science, and other subjects within the journal's scope.

The research findings should demonstrate a clear contribution to scientific knowledge, technical problem-solving, methodological development, or practical applications.

2. Review Articles

Recommended length: 5,000–10,000 words.

Review Articles provide a critical, comprehensive, and structured synthesis of existing research on a specific topic within the scope of Jurnal Jaring SainTek.

These articles should identify major developments, research trends, methodological approaches, areas of consensus, limitations in existing studies, and opportunities for future research.

Review Articles may employ systematic literature review, scoping review, bibliometric analysis, or other appropriate and clearly explained review methodologies. The selected approach must be suitable for the research objectives and must be described transparently.

A review article must go beyond summarizing individual publications. It should provide critical evaluation, meaningful synthesis, and evidence-based insights that advance understanding of the research topic.

Authors should use relevant and sufficiently current scholarly sources and clearly explain the literature selection, analysis, and synthesis procedures, where applicable.

3. Conceptual Articles

Recommended length: 4,000–6,000 words.

Conceptual Articles develop or advance theoretical perspectives, conceptual frameworks, models, propositions, or innovative approaches relevant to the fields covered by Jurnal Jaring SainTek.

These articles should demonstrate a clear intellectual contribution by developing new concepts, integrating existing theories, identifying conceptual relationships, or proposing modifications to established frameworks.

To qualify as a Conceptual Article, a manuscript must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Originality: Present a distinctive conceptual contribution rather than merely summarizing existing literature.

  2. Theoretical or conceptual development: Develop a coherent framework, model, proposition, or explanation grounded in relevant scholarly literature.

  3. Clarity and logical consistency: Clearly define the central concepts, explain their relationships, and provide a logically structured argument.

  4. Relevance: Address a meaningful problem, opportunity, or emerging issue within the journal's scope.

  5. Engagement with existing literature: Critically evaluate relevant studies and explain how the proposed contribution advances, integrates, or challenges existing knowledge.

  6. Scientific contribution: Explain the potential implications of the proposed framework or perspective for further research, technical development, or practical applications.

Conceptual Articles are not intended to be unsupported opinion pieces. Their arguments must be grounded in credible scholarly sources and supported by clear reasoning and appropriate theoretical foundations.

Where applicable, authors should discuss the limitations of the proposed framework and identify opportunities for future empirical testing or practical validation.

Editorial Assessment

The classification of a manuscript into one of these categories is subject to editorial assessment. The Editor-in-Chief or the assigned editor may determine the most appropriate category based on the manuscript's objectives, methodology, structure, and principal contribution.

All submissions are subject to the journal's initial editorial screening and peer-review process in accordance with its editorial policies. Meeting the recommended word limit or satisfying the general description of an article category does not guarantee acceptance.
